KEITH "SPEEDY" TORRENCE

BSC STAFF: Hi there Keith or do prefer Speedy? And where did that name(Speedy) derive from?
Speedy: Whats up BSC staff? Keith or Speedy is fine. I got the name Speedy my freshman year in college after I ran a 4.23 in the 40 yard dash against the incoming freshman. Coach Bill Hayes...now athletic director at FAMU...made me race the upperclassmen. I guess my adrenaline was flowing because I clocked a 4.20 against the upperclassmen and a legend was born...lol

BSC STAFF: Before we get into softball, there has been a lot of talk about your Football skills on the message board and you know us here at BSC do our research. Our research turned up that you were a Winston Salem standout. Care to elaborate.
Speedy: Football was and still is my first love. I played football at Winston-Salem State University from 1985-1989.All-Conference at three different positions...wide receiver, kick off returner and punt returner. All American punt returner my junior season. Team captain my senior year. Played in front of Yancey Thigpen(Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennessee Titans)

BSC STAFF: So what have you been doing since the World Tournaments?
Speedy: Spending time with my beautiful daughter Kayla...my heartbeat. I also coach High School football at McNair Senior High in Atlanta. Trying to get as many kids in college as I can whether they play football or not. Just want the kids to experience the college life and meet new people.

BSC STAFF: And how long have you been playing/coaching?
Speedy: Been playing softball...18 years...coaching...3 years

BSC STAFF: What teams have you played/coached with?
Speedy: I have played for Atlanta Connection, New Crew, Phoenix, Georgia Travelers, CSM, Atlanta Storm, Air Mac and Air Mac/So So Def. Have coached Air Mac, Tire Shop, Air Mac/So So Def and thanks to Cousin Pete...Creative Walls

BSC STAFF: Will you be returning to the same team you played/coached with in 2008?
Speedy: If I told you I would have to kill you...lol.



BSC STAFF: What was your most memorable moment from 2008?
Speedy: Winning the USSSA World with Creative Wall in Birmingham and seeing Head(Air Mac/So So Def)and KJ(Air Mac/So So Def)win the USSSA World in Birmingham in the Major division with McNair Sports.

BSC STAFF: What do you like most about playing on the BSC circuit?
Speedy: Meeting different people from all over the country.

BSC STAFF: What improvements would you like to see made within BSC?
Speedy: When these different associations set rules and regulation for the upcoming season...Please have it in writting...RULEBOOK...abide by the rules and do not change the rules for no one or no team.I think this would keep alot of the confusion down.

BSC STAFF: What are your goals for the 2009 season?
Speedy: Stay healthy and of course win championships in whatever division I am in.

BSC STAFF: You are one of the favorite BSC board personalities but who are your favorites?
Speedy: Gnutts...I think he is the funniest person on the board plus he is a 5 foota
Ladylaw...she keeps it real...and she is crazy as hell
Keylolo...anyone that gets banned from the board is one of my favorites
Tgriff...shows me how to do everything when it comes to this computer and she is funny
NB21...my partner in crime(Frenchie)
ChiChi...the lady assassin
911...the man behind the scenes...Mr.Tim Tebow...lol

BSC STAFF: Can you tell the peepers and posters who the 5 footers are?
Speedy: The 5 foota's are the greatest organization on the BSC circuit. I have thousands of applications come across my desk everyday. Just rejected Ms.Dat and Redd14 application...lol

BSC STAFF: Tell us something about you that most people do not know.
Speedy: I do not drink alcohol and in person I am quiet and laid back...an observer.
